What is the lead time on a new benchtop?
Laminated benchtops can be manufactured and ready for installation within 7 working days. (Subject to product availability and seasonal workloads). If you require installation, allow a few extra days for tradesmen to be arranged.
If I send in a rough plan will you have an installer check measure?
If you would like a quote today, please email info@laminatedbenchtops.com.au, with a drawing showing the overhead view of your new benchtop. The more information you can provide on your plan, the more accurate the estimation we will provide. If the quote suits your budget and you need an installer we will send someone to check measure your kitchen.
If we have installed a new kitchen ourselves does BLB check measure for the new benchtops?
If you plan to install your own new benchtops that’s great, but we don’t offer a check measure for this – we’ll work off your plan.
If we have installed a new kitchen ourselves, and we would like BLB to install benchtops do you do a check measure?
BLB would do a check measure after an estimated quote is submitted and accepted. Our quote does not allow for any extra time needed on site if cabinetry is unlevel or out of square. Please ensure cabinets are fully assembled and site is ready for installation, before we check measure.
Does BLB do the plumbing and electrical?
BLB staff will be happy to book a plumber and/or electrical for the day of installation. Estimation for these trades will be listed on your quotation. Extra trades will invoice you directly for their work, BLB does not add any cost for arranging these extra trades.
What thickness can the benchtop be made?
The standard thickness of a custom benchtop is 33mm, but your benchtop can be built from 16mm up to 50mm (thicker tops can be made using a square edge finish).
What is laminate made of?
Laminate is made from digital images that are printed on paper. The paper is then laid over layers of Kraft paper sheets, which are impregnated with phenolic resin, and bonded together.
Will the laminate get scratches?
Laminate surfaces will withstand normal wear and tear, but can be damaged by scratching or cutting with utensils, knives and unglazed pottery. Darker colours will show scratches more readily than lighter colours. In general, dark colours and high gloss surfaces require more care and maintenance than lighter colours, or lower gloss colours. To minimise scratching, always place and lift objects from the surface – never drag or slide them across the surface.
Can laminated benchtops be repaired if I’ve burnt a hole in them?
Unfortunately, NO, we don’t repair laminated benchtops if they are burnt. Don’t ever place hot items on your benchtop, as this will cause blistering and burn marks.
How much deposit do I need to pay?
50% Deposit required to proceed with quotation, the balance is payable on the day of completion.
What is the best way to clean my laminated benchtop?
Using a mild dishwashing detergent in water will remove greasy marks. Dab, wait and wipe away. Finish with an all-purpose cleaner such as Windex spray cleaner or Ajax Spray n Wipe. Avoid scourers and abrasives as they will damage the surface. Do not use strongly acidic, alkaline cleaners or bleach for normal cleaning as these might etch the surface.
